Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol (1962)

The famous and the first of it's kind to be aired on the television was Mister Magoo's Christmas Carol. Loosely based on the plot of Charles Dickens's The Christmas Carol, the program was specifically made for the Christmas holidays for people have enough time to relax and watch television. It was a UPA televisions studio production and was out and out an animated show. After a certain period of time, Mr. Magoo, the protagonist became highly popular and featured in various stories and comics. There are umpteen number of similarities as well dissimilarities between the book and the movie. For instance, the appearance of the character of Mr. Magoo is almost the same. He is a selfish man with unusually comical speaking tone and remains the same.
Whereas, the removal of the innocent character of Fed is a deviation indeed. Moreover, two Post-Redemption scenes are totally changed and have been presented from the director's point of view altogether. Actually, the deviations were done so as to fit in the storyline within the time slot they had. Otherwise, the theme and the message remains the same.

Charles Dickens's portrayed a mean and ugly person in his book who could not bear the sight of people being happy and joyous. He was a jealous of all. But, the story of Mr. Magoo is depicted in the most comical manner. Perhaps, the reason behind transforming the short story into a musical show was to add the element of humor to it. If it is a musical show, then songs are bound to be a part of it.

There are numerous beautiful Christmas carols dealing with various aspects of Christianity.
