The occasion of Christmas becomes more interesting with the comedy movies which not only entertain kids but also teach them the values and morals of life in a more easy and friendly way. Christmasonnet.com brings to you a host of information about the movie the bishop's wife.

This movie is a 1947 romantic comedy staring Cary Grant, Loretta Young, and David Niven, Monty Woolley in the lead and James Gleason, Gladys Cooper and Elsa Lanchester in supporting characters. This is a

story about an angel who comes to earth in order to help a bishop solve his problems. This movie was directed by Henry Koster Produced by Samuel Goldwyn and was nominated for the Best Director, Best Film Editing, Best Music, Scoring of a Dramatic or Comedy Picture and Best Picture and it also won the Academy Award for Sound.

The bishop who had become obsessed with the church tends to neglect his duties towards his wife Julia (Loretta Young) and his family. Every one seems to be charmed by the angel including the non-religious Professor Wutheridge (Monty Woolley). This angel easily persuades the wealthy parishioners, and specifically Mrs Hamilton (Gladys Cooper), to contribute for the funds.

Dudley in the process of spending time with Julia, the bishop's wife strangely enough falls in love with her and the bishop on seeing this becomes jealous of the angel and eventually he stands up against this angel who has somehow failed to win over Julia's heart and once his mission is over he leaves with the promise to never return again.
