The Christmas Story

Christmas On Net >> The Christmas Story

Released in 1983, the movie The Christmas Story is a nice fusion of elements taken from short stories and anecdotes by the author Jean Shepherd. Produced and directed by Bob Clark the movie has all fun elements that make it a perfect children's holiday movie. It has got action, comedy and adventure to build up suspense meanwhile you laugh your heart out.

The plot has lots of amusing elements to it. It is a story of a little boy Ralphie Parker who wants a BB gun as his Christmas presents. The gun he is demanding for is actually an official gun and thus cannot be given to him. But, the boy keeps hitting upon the same demand. On the other hand, the adult members in the household often repeats the same sentence “You will shoot your eye out.” so as to let him forget the very idea of getting a BB gun. Far from leaving the idea, Ralphie makes it his ulterior motif. He wants the gun by hook or by crook. He makes every possible effort to get the desired present. For instance, he puts the advertisement of the same gun between the covers of her mother's magazine. After all his apparently heroic deeds bear results and an Old Man gifts him with a BB gun, giving the reason that he too owned one at an early age.

This is the mainstream plot of the story. But, parallel to it runs few sub-plots as well. The old man receiving the award, the disaster at the dinner table by so many dogs and Ralphie's encounter with big bullying boy. All of them branch out the element of humor to the movie. The film too includes many fantastical components that show Ralphie's whims and fancies. The domestic environment of the film makes you identify with the characters of the movie so much so that we are

All in all a complete entertainment package for kids during their Christmas vacations. Similar Christmas holiday movies can be presented as Christmas gifts to your pal's kids. They would be highly delighted.
